Post by: nigelrixson on Wednesday 01 October 08 14:39 BST (UK)
Hi,
Can SKS throw any light on the meaning of 'Bombadier RGA unit (Civil) Engineer' found on a 1918 marriage certificate as the occupation of the groom

Thanks

Many thanks,

Just a thought: Stephenson in London. Any connection to Stevenson in Derbys/Leics?

Cheers

not that I am aware of, I have a possible connection with a Stevenson in the Sweeney line in the Newcastle area but have not managed to make a confirmed link as yet.

I thought a bombadier in the Canadian artillery was the same as a corporal in the infantry

I agree with xbutcherboy,

the rank of Bombardier is equivalent of Corporal, see
