I have some ancestors who came to England from Southern Ireland (County Mayo) around about 1922, settling in Burnley lancashire.
does anyone know if there are any records that would show there entry into the uk?
Many thanks

No records were, or are, kept of people travelling between Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland.

Hello Rae,
Despite the fact that there are no records of travel between Ireland and Great Britain
you may be able to find the approximate date when your ancestors settled in Burnley.
The cotton industry reached its peak there in the early years of the twentieth century. It depends upon the occupation of your ancestors. If they worked in one of the mills for which records have been kept you may be lucky enough to get more information.

Ah, hello!- got a similar problem. My "Matilda Jones" from unknown region in Ireland moved with her husband (british soldier) from Ireland to Lancashire. I know she worked in the mills (with her husband and children) in Lancashire. I mainly would like to know where she came from in Ireland.
Any pointers on where I can find lists of Lancashire men who registered with the army and went to Ireland around 1880?
thankyou .

Sounds like the only route is to search for those occupation records.
My great g/father died working on the railways. I might be lucky.....

Thanks Christopher,
My great grandfather died whilst working on the railway near Huncoat Station in 1950.
Maybe I can find out more from his work records.
