My maternal grandmother, Eleanor Peckett, served in St John Ambulance Brigade in Manchester in the late 1950's and early 1960's. I'm not sure which division she was in but it covered the speedway at Belle Vue and the Apollo Theatre at Ardwick.
I can remember going with her on several occasions to the track at Belle Vue on a Saturday. I also remember once there was a parade where all the SJAB personnel were inspected by Douglas Fairbanks Jnr.
Does anyone have any old photographs from which I might be able to identify my grandmother.
Any help, however small appreciated.

My father was a Major in St John's Ambulance and I often accompanied him to the cycle races at the Harris Stadium in Fallowfield in the 1960s. I remember the parade you mentioned where their patron Douglas Fairbanks junior was the guest, and in fact I have a three-minute cine clip of the event which I have converted into a digital movie. Let me know if you want a copy.

Hi & welcome Ragnar Hairybreeks, would love to see them but might be easy for you if you were to load them up on to youtube?
That way everyone can see them :)
