I wonder if a kind person would be willing to look up a couple of people for me in the Lawnswood Crematorium index if such a thing exists.
I'm looking for:
Henry PERKINS - died 27 Jul 1880 aged 82 at Ebenezer Place, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire
Harriet PERKINS - died 7 Oct 1883 aged 80 at 3 Dickenson's Terrace, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire
I've already posted this on the Lincolnshire forum http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,329989.0.html but so far it looks like they were possibly buried (or even cremated) outside the county.
I have come across an instance before where someone lived and died in Scarborough and was cremated at Lawnswood. Their ashes were scattered there as well. I just wondered if the same thing had happened to Henry and Harriet.
Incidentally Harriet was counted twice in the 1871 census - at Gainsborough; and with her daughter and son-in-law at 3 Hinde Hill, Sheffield. The son-in-law died in 1886 at 53 Maltravers Road, Sheffield. Just wondered if that might have any bearing as to where Henry and Harriet PERKINS ended up.

Hi, if you mean Lawnswood in Leeds, the crematorium only opened in 1905 so unlikely that they would have been cremated, though I think the burial ground there opened much earlier. If you're sure they were cremated/buried in Leeds, the council should be able to tell you where they are?

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure if they were either buried or cremated. It's just a theory I'm testing at the moment. Incidentally both of them were methodists, so I'm trying to establish what would have happened to them after their passing - ie what options would have been available at the time and where they would have likely to have ended up.
With Gainsborough being close to the Nottinghamshire I've even posted something onto the Nottinghamshire board. Incidentally Henry's mother came from Blyth, NOTTS. No response so far though.
