Title: Tweedy/Tweedie family
Post by: Georgfriedrich on Friday 26 September 08 13:47 BST (UK)
This is purely a shot in the dark. ;)

There was a family living in London whose surname was Tweedy/Tweedie.
In the 1850s the parents died and leaving these surviving children:
Margaret Ann Blythe b.1828 Edinburgh
David b.1830 Edinburgh
James b.1832 Edinburgh
John b.1834 Edinburgh
Jane b.1835 Edinburgh
Peter Ross b.1841 London  m to Martha Ann Mantel in 1863
William b. 1842 London

Margaret m William Tristram Carver and remained in London.  Jane was in London with them until 1851.
Peter and Martha are last heard of in London in the 1861 census.
The others apparently disappear after their mother died of cholera in 1854.

I am wondering if any migrated to Canada . . .

Hi Kirk,

Have you checked the censuses on familysearch? I'm seeing more possibilities in the USA than in Canada.

Thanks Kathleen,
doh!  I made a mistake.  I meant that I last heard of Peter in the 1871 census.  I am sorry for inconveniencing you.
Hi Lisa,
I was looking in the census but I couldn't find much.  I shall look again

Thanks for all your help!

Kirk

Hello
I have information showing William Tweedie in 1876 in Bury's Green Ontario.  It mentions his sister Mrs. Smith.

If you think this may be your family I will look further.

Hallo Janice.
They don't look like my Tweedies unfortunately...  :-\
However I shall look through the Ontario deaths and see what pops up.  Thanks for your help!
