Hi all
I know that the 1901 & 1911 census for Ireland are not yet on line but does anyone know a way of getting copies ? I don't know if you can request a copy for a certain area and parish and pay for someone to find it for you. Obviously I don' t want to pay the earth but does the county library do such a search. I have tried to find out on line but can't get a answer
Cheers

Westy,
There are census records available online, some for free and others you have to pay for.
What counties or areas are you interested in?

Hi RoinnieG
I am looking for Co. Wexford around the areas of Mounthoward / Boolavogue / Tomagaddy which I think are in the Monamolin district

Westy,
You can order the reels from your local LDS Family History Centre then go along and view them. If they have a printer you can print out the pages you are interested in. I have done that myself, the reels cost £2.75 for a month and 5p a page to print.
Check familysearch.org for your nearest office and the list of reels by county & townland.

Not sure about present rules but there was a time when 1901 Irish census was available in Ireland but not U.K. (under 100 years rule) people living in Northern Ireland were not allowed to order the 1901 reels and later the same problem for 1911. As Westy's in U.K. might be a good idea to ring local LDS library and ask if he's allowed to order 1911 microfilm- hopefully the policy is different now.

I have accessed 1911 census in an English LDS office but it is not available in PRONI Belfast. I guess it is just NI it is not available in yet. But a good idea to check first.

Thanks, Terry. Seems strange that I can't order census from LDS in Northern Ireland yet can get it across the border in Ireland but it is available from LDS in England.
