Hi Fernvic
You could try searching the Durham Bishops' Transcripts free on
http://www.rootschat.com/links/04c3/
click on Europe on the map, then on England Diocese of Durham Bishops' Transcripts, then on Durham, then Lanchester.... they're not indexed so need to be gone through page by page
Kind regards, Barbara

Hello,
William Batey & Ann Mclish were my 3 x gt grandparents. My Grandmother was a Batey from Spennymoor. I've been looking into the family for a while & would love to swap research if possible.
In answer to your search for the baptism of William - did you see the following entry from Esh Laude Roman catholic Church dated 19th June1811 'William Bety (sic) . Born 3rd June 1811son of Thomas Bety (sic) & Isabel nee Harrison ( it must be him, the coincidence is too much as my 2 x gt grandfather was named George Harrison Batey.
Please get in touch

Have you followed the line of Ann Ord. Her parents were John Ord and Margaret Fleetham. I am descended from the elder brother of Margaret - Michael Fleetham. I have colllated some information on the Batey line but would love to fill in the gaps.
