Title: Irving
Post by: Lynn Hancock on Thursday 18 September 08 18:52 BST (UK)
Could someone please look up Jane Irving born 1855 at Sebergham on the 1861 and 1871 census.  Her parents may have been Robert and Elizabeth Irving. Thank you.

Thank you for your replies. Jane is my gt grandad James Moffatt's second wife. His first wife died in 1887 leaving him at Haltwhistle with 3 young children. Jane and James first child John was born in 1890 so far I have not been able to date a marriage. James hailed from Annan in Dumfries and migrated to Brampton where he lived for a while with Martha his first wife. Her father was Charles Guthrie and his sister Elizabeth b1835 married a Robert Irving so I jumped to the conclusion that James must have taken the children back to Brampton and family and there taken up with his wifes cousin Jane. Obviously it is not going to be that simple!
