Title: James Christie born County Leitrim
Post by: annette ellen on Monday 15 September 08 23:14 BST (UK)
I am wondering if anyone can help finding any info regarding James Christie/Christy born c1790 in County Leitrim, married a Ann McFadyen when ?
Son Anthony Christie born 1833 ,he was a Coalminer and he died in c1926.
Anthony married a Catherine O'brien in Scotland but Catherine O'Brien was also born in County Leitrim in 1834 and her parents were Hugh O'Brien born c 1808 and Ann McGuire or Mary Travers as he married twice.

Hope that someone may be able to help.
Regards
Annette.

Hi Annette,

The 1796 Flax Growers List doesn't have any Christie listings but does have one Christy.

Luke Christy, Inishmagrath. Leitrim

Christie is a fairly rare name in Leitrim and the Griffiths valuation of land records of about 1847, lists one family in the parish of Drumreilly, two in Cloonclare and five in Inishmagrath - the odds favour Inishmagrath.

John

Hi Annette,
Jas Christy is listed, short for James in the Tithe records.
I will send a Private Message as I have Catherine O'Briens siblings.
Also info on the McFadden and O'Brien men.

Unless it concerns living people (highly unlikely in this case?) then there's no reason to send details by PM  :-\
