He was born in 1838 in Keighley but he is not listed with his parents and siblings (parents Thomas and Zillah Wilcock, siblings Alice, John & Ann).
There is a Joseph Wilcock age 3 listed in the 1841 census for Keighley and I'd be interested to see if it's the right Joseph!
Thanks in advance.

Jenny i just had a look at address for Thomas and Zillah and that is also Morton Banks.
Could be they are all related ???
Have you found Joseph in 1851 or later with his family?

Thanks very much Sue.
I think they are all related but I don't know how as yet as I haven't had chance to veer off into brothers and sisters of my line as far as Wilcocks are concerned.
I think one of Joseph's siblings John b. 1835 is listed in 1851 but I haven't looked at the details . (I have got details for Thomas & Zillah on the 1861 one though).
As for Joseph b. 1838, it's not my Joseph but it does help as he was the only Joseph listed for Keighley of the right age. Now I'm thinking that maybe my Joseph died before the census took place.

Jenny here is your family in 1851
HO107 / 2286 / 482 / 7
Thomas Wilcock head age 51 b Keighley occ lab
Zillah wife age 59 b Morton
Joseph son age 22 b Morton occ woolcomber
John son age 16 b Morton
Address looks like Smithy.
Does this help at all?
Sue :)

Ooh, yes it does help! Thank you Sue. ;D
So Joseph is there after all. And interesting to know his occupation too.
Smithy is right for the address, Thomas was still at 4 The Smithy in 1881.

But he wasn't born in 1838 ???
-
Ha! You're right, I didn't even notice!
Well, that is strange. I can't figure that one out at all. That makes him born in around 1829, about 10 years early?
-
Oh, there he (I think) is listed 10 years later in the 1861 census but still 22.
Perhaps it has been written in wrong as he should have been 12 ish in 1851.

Jenny,
hope you don't mind my putting in a request on your behalf as it is to help with details from your other enquiry.
I am thinking that the John and Ann Wilcock both age 60 are Thomas' parents.
Being John Wilcock and Ann Booth who married at Kildwick in 1798. having a son Thomas in 1799. and being from Silsden.
Could someone please find them, John and Ann Wilcock, in the 1851 so we might get some more details on them please.
thanks
Margaret
