Hi

I also have Murray/Gunn from Kildonan, Loth in my family tree.  My mother was a Murray, born in London, but the family originally came from Kildonan and Loth.  I have an Alexander Murray (born 1768) who married an Ann Sutherland.  Their son William (born 1792) married an Ann Gunn (born 1795 Loth).  Do you have info on these people.  I also have McCann's in my tree, my great grandmother was an Marie Ann (Mary Ann McCann) born in Glasgow.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Lisa,

Sorry - I've only just noticed your message.  Of course, we are now in touch directly.

For anyone else interested in this area, Lisa and I share ancestors named Murray, Gunn, McCann and Urquhart (to name a few).

Deborah (aka Dimps)

Hi Lisa , Deborah,
I too have Gunns in my tree. My ancesters  were born and lived in Durness. My G.G. Grandfather  Alexander b 1834, came from Durness and immigrated out here  to Australia in 1853. His father was Sgt William Gunn - married Isabella Syme. Is there any connection to your families?
Regards Rubygee

Anderson Murray, shoemaker in Gartymore, who married Esther Gunn in 1830 is my 3rd great grandfather. They had Roberta b1830, Alexandrina b1833, Esther b1837 and Ann Munro b1839. After the death of wife Esther, Anderson married Isabella Bruce in 1841. They had David b1841, and several daughters. All the children from both marriages were born in Loth and Kildonan.
I believe Anderson's father was Peter.
I would love to hear from anyone with connections to this family.
Regards
cmg

I have connections to Catherine Murray born 1843. Daughter of Anderson Murray and Isabella Bruce.

Further to above. I have since discovered that Catherine Murray, born 1843, daughter of Anderson Murray and Isabella (Bella) Bruce, married William McKenzie in Helensburgh in 1878. She died Glasgow 1924. My wife, Moira is her great-granddaughter.

:) Hi I am A Gunn descendent and have William Gunn and Isabella(but told she was henderson). They had children Margaret Gunn b. 1826, Robert Sinclair Gunn (my GG Grandfather) b.1828, Georgina Gunn b.1831, John Gunn b.1833, Alexander Gunn b.1835 , and William born 1839. We may be related if I have the right line. My relatives were born in Durness and my GG grandfather migrated to Australia when he was 24 in about 1852 - 1854.
Please get back if you can help me to let me know if Isabella was a Syme and not a Henderson as my Auntie has given me. We have no relatives who have kept records of my ancestry from when my GG Aunt died and all records of our Gunn ancestry were lost. Debbie
