I am trying to find any information about the Magor Family.
My great grandmother was ELIZABETH EMILY MAGOR and she was born about 1841 in Cornwall, England.
Her father was REUBEN MAGOR and her mother was MARY PHILLIPS.
I think MARY PHILLIPS died in Cornwall before Elizabeth and her father migrated to Australia.

Hi. I just noticed an old posting on Rootsweb about the Magor
family.
I have been tracing the 'Meager' family for a long time - and keep
coming up with the spelling of Magor, Megar amongst numerous
others.
My Meager family also came to Australia, but I have not come across
Rueben.
Good luck with your search.

Hi Msjunie
Have you seen in the 1841 cenus... HO107/1914 fol 216 p 17
reuben Magor son b 1831...miner
mary magor head b b 1793...domestic work
richard magor son b 1833...miner
grace magor daugh b 1825...works at mines
It has been transcribed that Reuben was born in 1831 although on the original census it states than Reuben is 20 years old and a miner. so if he's 20 then he was born about 1821...possibly your Elizabeth Emily's dad !
they were all born in Gwennap and are living there in the district of St Day.
Hope this helps or gives you somewhere to start. I will look further

Hi Msjunie
Are you still looking for the Magor/Major/Mayor family? I am looking for more information on the Smith and Law family. I have a little information on William Henry Smith m. 1874 Elizabeth Emily MAGOR. She was born in Cornwall and her parents were Reuben MAGOR & Mary PHILLIPS. I have a contact who is a direct line down the William Henry SMITH line.

Hello,
I have Samuel Magor who married Dorothy Toy (widow) in 1825 in Gwennap. He seems to disappear after 1825 and in 1841 Dorothy is a widow, so I have been unable to find anything more about him. Dorothy and her daughters moved to Plymouth, Devon.
As Gwennap was only a small place Samuel is likely to be related to your Magors.

Hi Jenny
Hi Mezza 123, I am a g-g-granddaughter of William Henry Smith and Elizabeth Emily Magor. I am also trying to find details about William's parents. ...... need some info on James and Mary. Can you help?
They came from Tasmania, Aust. I have contact with 2 others down your SMITH line, both in Australia. If you work out how to send me a personal message, as it looks like you and I are pretty new at using this site....I have more details and can put you in contact with them. I am related through Mary LAW's sister, Jane ...not a direct link, but researching your family has found my problem children. Mary was married x2 and Mary & Jane came to Tas with convict mother.

My 3rd great grandfather was Henry C. Magor born in 11 Apr 1823 in Redruth Highway, Cornwall, England. His wife was Jane Cornelius. I believe his parents were Henry and Sarah Magor.
By the way, I've had a Y-DNA test from FamilyTreeDNA.com if that is helpful. I have also done DNA kits with 23andme.com and dna.ancestry.com.
In the 1841 census, there is a Henry Magor who is 20 years old, so I'm not sure that is my ancestor or a cousin since the birth years don't exactly match. It appears this Henry Magor's parents are John and Alice Magor, so that's another mismatch. It likely this family is closely related to my ancestor though.
These are the individuals in that Magor family in the 1841 census in Cornwall, England:
Civil Parish: Gwennap With St Day
Registration district: Redruth
Name Age
John Magor 48
Henry Magor 20
John Magor 11
Thos Magor 7
Jane Magor 20
Louisa Magor 13
Alice Magor 49
