Hello
My great great grandmother Ann Browett married Thomas Cobley in Morcott September 1826. Please can you find a birth for her? Many thanks in advance for your help and time. Much appreciated. Thanks Gill

Hi
You don't give any details of her birthyear but have you looked on the IGI at www.familysearch.org as there are 2 possibles both b Morcott - 1801 and 1808

many thanks

Hi,
I think one of those baptisms in IGI may have been a mistake as the 1801 record isn't in the transcribed parish records that I have. IGI is a bit hit and miss - I wonder if the 1801 record was really referring to Ann's sister Hannah?:
16 OCT 1808 ANN BROWET D/O ANDREW/ANN
11 MAY 1800 HANNAH BROWET D/O ANDREW/ANN
16 DEC 1804 THOMAS BROWET S/O ANDREW/ANN
24 MAR 1811 JOHN BROWETT S/O ANDREW/ANN
20 MAR 1803 NICHOLAS BROWETT S/O ANDREW/ANN
I found this marriage as well:
15 NOV 1790 ANDREW BROWETT MORCOT ANN MITCHEL MORCOT BANNS
This suggests that there ought to have been more children between 1790 & 1800. Maybe they married in Morcott and went to live elsewhere for 10 years. Or it may be a different couple of course. But Morcott was and is a small village, so hopefully not.
I couldn't find any earlier Browett baptisms in Morcott or any for Mitchel at any date. I had a quick look in my other Rutland villages - list of them in the Lookup Offers page - and didn't find them there either.

Hi Laura
That is very kind of you, thank you very much for taking the time to look for me. The IGI is useful but you can't beat the Parish Registers.
