Can someone with access to the 1891 and 1901 Censuses please look up the SHANKS and SIMPSONs at Millisle.
Many thanks
Les

There is no 1891 census for Ireland.

Hello Les,
I looked at the 1912 Ulster Covenant. It was signed by James and Robert Shanks
of Millisle. There were no Simpsons on the Millisle list.

If you havent used gravestone inscriptions use google to look for Millisle and templepatrick graveyard tombstone photographs useing the text not the images to gett the references but they probably are under images as well., at least one has an index of surnames running down the LHS. click and you get the close up photo. There are great

Many thanks all.
I manged to get into Millisle Presbyterian on my way down to my daughters in Dublin, at the back end of last year, and now have pics of the 2 Shanks markers both of which refer to members of my wife's Grandfather's family.
Any further info about these Shanks would, of course, be appreciated.

Thanks aghadowey for correcting my link, I have nothing further on Shanks but there is a Simpson family tree in volume16p146 in the Blackwood Family history manuscript trees in the LinenHall library, Belfast which may have nothing to do with your interest, but worth checking out perhaps, good luck, JIm.
