I have found a little guy named BERNARD DENNETT on the 1901 census for Battersea, st philip, London. It says he was born in Woolwich. Help.
I've been looking for Bernard Dennet who came to Canada in 1909 with his Aunt Emma Evans. Or so we've been told, I'm starting to think something is funny here. I believe Bernard was born Dec 7 1893 according to his ww1 info. But why would he at age 15 or 16 have travelled with his single Aunt to Canada. Was she really his mom? I've done the ancestry.co.uk stuff and nothing on his birth. Is there a direct way to search Woolwich births in the 1800's?

what 'stuff' did you do?

Thanks for the info. I had seen this entry on ancestry, but disreguarded it because Bernard Dennets' daughter told me her Dad didn't have a middle name. Also I was only looking for a Woolwich birth. This one says Greenwich.

Greenwich reg district covers Woolwich as well as others.
This from FREE BMD website.
"GREENWICH REGISTRATION DISTRICT"
Registration County : London (1837-1965); Greater London (1965-74).
Created : 1.7.1837.
Sub-districts : Deptford Central; Deptford East; Deptford North; Deptford South; Greenwich East; Greenwich South; Greenwich North; Greenwich West; St. Nicholas Deptford; St. Paul Deptford; Woolwich Dockyard; Woolwich Arsenal.
Sounds pretty good to me, maybe he wasn't keen on the middle name so didn't use it on a daily basis.

Hello Pauline, I looked at the free BMD index and Bernard Cudlip Dennett is there. He is shown with this data : Greenwich 1d.1132.
the transcriber has listed where the info was from.

Obviously from family search. Latter day saints. But here is my problem, if I go to the family IGI site and search it there is no Bernard Dennett.

No, it is not. It is a tif image of the GRO index page.
You may view the image of the GRO index page at freebmd.
Is there as 'spectacles' icon to click on alongside that? It will take you directly there.
