Is anyone researching this family please?
My Gr.Gr. Grandparents William Gauden b. 1821 (Worcs.)
Ann Gauden (maiden name unknown) b.1821
died 1870 (Stourbridge, 6c. 89 2nd quarter)
possibly married in Oldswinford.
The 1841 census shows them with one son Daniel, 5 months, living at Engine Lane, Oldwinford, Worcs.
(don't have access to 1851 census)
The 1861 census shows an Ann Gauden b.1821 with a Samuel Gauden and several children (no Daniel) living at Waste, Lye.
Is this another family? How can I check?
William and Ann did have a son Daniel b. 1841 who married Elizabeth (nee Pargeter) born 1845. Lived at Stambermill Road, Lye. (my gr.grandparents)
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks Willow and Donna. You have both been very busy and I am very grateful. Perhaps I have got the wrong William and Ann on the 1841 Census.
I took the information from a 'tree' sent to me by a relative researching the KENDRICK side of the family. e.g.
Daniel Gauden b.1841 and Elizabeth b.1845 had:-
Daniel 1869; Mary Ann 1871;
Elizabeth 1872 - m. James Kendrick b.1867
Alice b. 1873 d.1947 m. Joseph Heathcock at St.Mark's Ch.Stambermill in 1903 (I'm also trying to trace details of a Tommy Forrest they adopted, but who died when he was about 13yrs.)
James 1876; Emma 1878;
William 1879 m. Amelia Stafford
Thomas 1883 m. Sarah Watteson Knowles b.1884 they married on 21st.February 1909 at St.Mark's Ch. Stambermill. (these are my maternal grandparents)
Anne 1884
I think I shall have to get certificates to make sure I have got the right family - it is so easy to get sidetracked when dates appear to 'fit'.
Again my thanks to you both and if there is anyone out there who recognizes any of the above names I would be pleased to hear from you.

Hiya Stringfellow
Probably your best bet is to get Daniels marriage certificate - that will give you his fathers name and occupation
Give us a yell if you find out any more information

Hello Willow,
Thank you for your reply. I will do as you suggest and apply for the marriage certificate of Daniel and Elizabeth.
As soon as I get the details from this I will let you know.
Again many thanks for your help. I think the people who use Roots Chat are amongst the most helpful people there are.

Hi Stringfellow
The family Samuel & Ann Gauden are not related to your Daniel. Sorry!
I am actually related to this Gauden family and we don't have a Daniel.

Sarah (formerly Hill) is my gx3 grandmother, Thomas her son is my gx2 grandfather.
I suggest you visit the following sites as it may help you piece together any connections you might have with me and other names in the area?

I also noticed on the previous page to your William and Ann Gauden there is an Emmanuel Kendrick with wife Esther both born Lye, they may be connected to you?

I knew I'd seen that name 'Squire' or a form of, before. Funny names these people pick! I think it must have a Kendrick connection going back somewhere because we have:
1881 Swan Hall, Lye
Zechariah Taylor h 67 anvil maker
Eliza Taylor w 51 nail maker
Sarah Taylor daug 30 nail maker
Esquire Taylor son 21 anvil maker
Rosannah Taylor daug 23 nail maker
Zechariah Taylor son 13 scholar
Albert Taylor son 10 scholar
Amelia Taylor daug 6 scholar
Alice Taylor daug 1
All born Lye
Zechariah's wife Eliza was a Kendrick. Found the marriage on IGI. ZECHARIAH TAYLOR - International Genealogical Index / BI
Gender: Male Marriage: 28 AUG 1850 Old Swinford, Worcester, England spouse: ELIZA KENDRICK
EDIT - and even stranger, another one, same year?!
1881 Lye Waste
Sarah Kendrick h (widow) 72 no profession
Sabrea? Pearson aunt (widow) 80 "
Esquire Taylor grandson 21 anvil maker
All born Lye
Is this Esquire the same person recorded twice?!

Hi Stringfellow! I am researching William Gauden b c1879 who married Amelia Stafford - think there are overlaps with your research? William would be my Great Grandfather. Would be interested to hear from you.
-
I also have a Sebra who seems to have married William Stafford b c1811, the Stafford family eventually marries into the Gauden family via Amelia Stafford. ANd another Sebra Stafford b c 1864. Are either of these the same Sebra as mentioned above?
