I do not think the site mentioned would be very useful to a beginner.

There are better places, such as Freebmd:

And all the paid-for sites.

The site you mentioned & the others on the "edges" of the screens are advertisers.

RootsChat is not a company at all, but a forum for assistance and exchange of information on family history.  There are no fees, subscriptions etc.
