At the time of my grandmother's marriage to my grandfather in 1914 her residence is given as Mount Offaly, Athy. They were married in St Michael's Church, Athy. I am trying to find out what and where Mount Offaly was.
She originated from Meath so i assume that she was in service in Athy.
Any ideas?

it looks like 'Mount Offaly' is an area or road in Athy, Co. Kildare.
See : http://www.from-ireland.net/kild/direct/athy31.htm
in the O'Neill section.

Mount Offaly, Co. Kildare mentioned here- perhaps the name of an estate:

There's presently a Mount Offaly Street in Athy although I'm not sure it it would have been called that (or even there) in 1914:

Thanks for that - i feel that the house Mount Offaly is probably the answer.

Hey! Did you find out anything further on this topic? My family (O'Neills) can be linked to the house Mount Offaly for many years, I think even around that time until the late 1970's or so... What were your grandparents maiden names?

No I didn't find out any more. My grandmother's maiden name was Catherine (Kate) Neary and she married a local man James (Jim) Gleeson. It would be very interesting to find out a bit more about her life.
Thanks

Mount Offaly is section of the town on the Carlow road in Athy, it runs from COI parish church and Mount Offaly house up to Axa insurance offices on the Road. Its quite possible she was working for Dr.James Kilbride who I know lived in the area in that period not to sure if he lived in Mount Offaly house, as for the O'Neills as far as I know only acquired properties in the area after his death.
