Looking for information pre 1881 on Thomas Hovell and family. I believe they were living in Stow, Norfolk (possibly Stow Bardolph) in 1832 when his daughter Ann was born. I have some good information on Ann after she was married, but I would like to know if she had any siblings and her Mother's name.
Many thanks
Roy

Hello Roy
I, too am researching this family but I think you are a bit too recent for me.
Is this your family in 1851?
Thomas HOVELL Head M 37 M Ag Lab Born Denver
Sarah HOVELL Wife M 35 F Born Wood Dalling
Mary HOVELL Daur U 16 F Born Fordham
Sarah HOVELL Daur U 13 F Born Fordham
Ann HOVELL Daur U 11 F Born Fordham
William HOVELL Son U 5 M Born Denver
Eliza HOVELL Daur - 4 F Born Denver
Robert HOVELL Son - 1 M Born Denver
Address: Denver Sluice, Denver, Downham
PRO Reference:HO/107/1830 Folio:400 Page 9
I have no record of a Thomas born 1813 but it is a bit too late for me.
Thomas is a popular forename in the family which were living in Denver in the mid 18thC when my 4x Gt Grandmother, Ann Hovell was born in 1767. I have managed to acquire some info on her siblings and their descendants so if you can find out a bit more detail on your Thomas's ancestry I may be able to take you back a couple more generations. Or do you already know about the family anyway?
Hovell researchers are very thin on the ground so it is nice to find a distant cousin from this branch of my family. I would very much like to exchange data if you're interested.
I have just found this website so am unsure how it works. Is it possible to communicate privately through our e-mail addresses or do we have to do it online? Anyway, my address is bpking@ hotmail.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Brenda

Hi, I have just started researching a Hovell family from Norfolk.
To date I have got back to Henry Hovell, fisherman, b 1815 Winterton (I think he married Caroline King), but it's early days for me with this research.
It doesn't seem like this family is related to yours but as it's not such a common surname there may be a connection somewhere. If you have come across 'my' Henry I'll be interested in learning more. :)

All my Hovells are from around the Denver/Downham Market area and in the 18thC. Although I'm sure there probably is a connection somewhere I am unaware of it. Sorry.

That's OK, thanks Brenda. Maybe I'll find something when I delve a bit deeper into the family. :)
