I am researching the Mace's from in and around Shipston on Stour
I usually find the births in shipston/ chipping norton area but many of the deaths have been registered at Winchcombe
Would there be a reason for this?? ???
Is there something like the main county hospital in or around Winchcombe
many thanks

Winchcombe is a pretty village near to Gloucester and Cheltenham. Both quite a way from Shipston on Stour or Chipping Norton. Even if deaths had been in Gloucester or Cheltenham hospital, they wouldn't be registered at Winchcombe.
Did your ancestors work at Sudeley Castle maybe, or were they in an almshouse?

Thank you
the date i am looking at this time are
Mary Ann mace 1845....chipping norton appears on 1851 census but then disappears so i found this death
1858....winchcombe
her sister does similar Sarah Ann mace 1848.......chipping norton
1851.........chipping norton
this is only one example there are several...........everything fits in except the registration is in winchcombe. Even on age dated ones.
thinking out loud! or could it be cos i am using freebdm that they are not complete?
the other dilemma i have got is father and sons of the same name dying in the same year but on different quarters.................if i order 1 it will tell me which one it is....................but on a tight budget :(

Yes, if you are sure that the records you've found are your ancestors. Otherwise it's £7 a certificate to be proved right or wrong.
I think freebmd is more or less complete for the years in question. Some around 1853/4 seem to be still incomplete though.

Do you have any of these person's burials? Sometimes the burial register will tell you where the person was when they died. ie Date of Burial Joe Bloggs 44 of such and such place.

one of the biggest problems with the family is they all had lots of children and those children had loads of children
they all lived in and around the same area, so it gets very confusing which is which..............on many of mine i have notes that there are too many of the right name in the right area to choose from espcially when you are working to find people between census's
thank you for your answers
i assume the death in 1861 was just before the census was taken.........fits better than winchcombe

no havent found any burial information unfortunately
i am probably looking in the wrong places though :)

There are 12 Maces in Winchcomb in 1851 in the census. The death of the mary here would not be pertinent to your line, although they are only 20 miles apart.
