Researching my dad's side of the family, his father was called Arthur Pellow Gladstone Leighfield born 1897 who married Amelia Stratford born 1901. Arthur had a sister called hetty.
Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance

Thanks for all your replys, can anyone get find out any information on the James Leighfield, as this is a name that no one in the family has heard of.
Thanks in advance
-
Hi Sue,
When you mentioned the family did not know of him I wondered if he may have died young but that does not appear to be the case - this looks like him, he seems to have reached adulthood and married.
LEIGHFIELD James Charles born Sep 1893 Highworth 5a 33
LEIGHFIELD James C = WHEATLEY Lilian A Dec 1913 Swindon 5a 85
Looks like first child did not survive
LEIGHFIELD James C b Dec 1815 Swindon 5a 46 (Mother Wheatley) died Jun 1917 aged 1 year Swindon 5a 28
Cheers Kris :D

My dad is Gordon Leighfield, he has a brother called Arthur Leighfield, their parents were Arthur Pellow Leighfield and Amelia Leighfield nee Stratford.
Through Some research Arthur Pellow had a sister called Hetty and a brother James.
I have managed to get some information from a Kevin leighfield who is related to James.
Does this help ???

I got your message sue64...so it looks like we are second cousins (or is it third cousins? :D ) I can't seem to reply to your message...is there an email address you can private message me...I'd like to find out more about my family history. I know very little of the Leighfield & Wheatley family histories and I'm really interested in learning more!

hi there welcome to rc...
I was just reading this post..... the surname Leighfield is not one that is generally associated with Swindon Highworth area and is more from Wootton-Bassett so when using the familysearch.org site please for the earlier generations in the family look under Highworth, and Wootton-Bassett as that is in the latter where the family were of more grounding.
I would also be using the Wiltshire bmd site for your family research,, especially in the case for Wootton Bassett as the entries will indicate the maiden names of the mothers for the births..... that will be able to be cross matched to the freebmduk site..... You should also be aware a lot of the census for Wiltshire is on the free cen which is part of the freebmduk site and the links etc for all I mentioned are in google. Another site you may wish to use for the research of the family in Wiltshire is the Wiltshire County Council Probate Index also found in google....... which can be searched for free then at minimal cost the wills can be obtained. The Prero Court Wills entries can be found on the National Archives search engine, and if you do have any servicemen in the family the NA site will certainly indicate if files exist..... a bit of legwork will connect the servicemen to the right parts of the family.......
good luck........
:)

the new chatterers on this post also need to be mindful that rootschat policy does not allow the research or mention of living souls , so when wording materials in the convos indicate deceased or words to effect so the moderators do not scrub parts of the post indictative of your research needs...
