Title: Florence Pivett née Bletsoe
Post by: Rozy on Sunday 31 August 08 20:25 BST (UK)
I am trying to find information about my English family.
My grandmother was Winifred Emily Bletsoe.
Now i like to find out more about her sister, my great-aunt Florence.
She married a Mr. Pivett on Decemer 1901 in Steyning, Sussex.
I do not know his first name, or where he was born.
The had 2 children.
One, a son, commited suicide, when he was Headmaster of a Boy's School.
Can anyone help me, please?

hi

Florence Louisa Bletsoe
married
Arthur Edward Privett

Q4 1901 Steyning

Could this be the same person? If they are anything like my family they all seem to go by different names than the ones they are born with

Hi :)
I do not know Florence her second name, it could be Louisa, because her mother was named Louisa (maiden name Berry). The name of Mystery Mr. Pivett, well, i really do not know. My grandmother had 7 or 8 sisters and one brother. If she had only brothers they would be easier to trace. Not knowing the exact data of birth, marriages and deaths makes the search very difficult.
I live in Holland, so my quest have to go by the internet. But i will look in to
the info you have gave me. Have a nice week!

Hi
Do you have census records?  In 1891 the family are in Brighton  RG12 805 51 9
John 31
Lydia 28
Florence 9
Mabel 6
Beatrice 5
Kathleen N 3
Winifred E 3 months
Unfortunately I cannot look at the actual image as the page appears to be missing.  However they appear to be at the same address in 1901 plus some extra kids.  Wife is now Louisa so I assume the 1891 was a transcription error??
There is a possible Arthur Edward Privett b c 1880 with parents Edward and Caroline in Beckenham in 1901 but you would really need the marriage certificate to be sure.   Edward is a boot repairer and Arthur a tea broker's clerk.

Thanks Sillgen,
I already have what you put on the messageboard, but i still appreciate
that you took time and effort, to put it on RootsChat. The name Lydia,
i really do not know, where that comes from. Maybe my great-grandfather
was married twice. Family stories, well, they are not always accurated.
Forgive my English, it is not that good :-[

Hi Rozy

I notice on Genes Reunited that someone named Maureen has entries relating to your Bletsoe family.   I wonder whether you have contacted her as she may have more information about the 2 sisters and their families that you are interested in.

Looks like Lydia is a mistranscription as here is the marriage:

1881 Jul/Aug/sep

Brighton

John William Bletsone
one of brides: Louisa Berry

(this sounds familiar - is there another thread somewhere?)

Hi Sillgen :)
A little late, but you are right about, Edward the booth repairer.
I heard that he actually had a shop.
