I am struggling to find a gt grandfather called alfred john tracey. I have the wedding certificate which has him as 21 years old in 1906 when he marries mary ann may belcher in twigworth at the parish church.
His father is called thomas tracey.
Can parish records add anything to the information i have gathered from the wedding certificates?
A vicious family rumour has it that either he or his father came from Canada.

Hi,
Can you find Alfred on 1901 census? It should state his birthplace.

Thomas was a mason.
Alfred John Tracey was an engine driver.
I did look at that 1901 census but couldnt find any likely.

Could the Tracey's be Irish? One of my ancestors married a Miss Tracey (from Ireland) in Canada.

What evidence do you have for his second name being John? Is it consistently used?
Depending what railway company Alfred worked for you should be able to trace his service records.

He is buried with her and the name held by the cemetery is Alfred John Tracey as is the name on his wife's death certificate. Its not used on his marriage certificate though.
Have not had irish roots mentioned.

Yes I saw that, it was why I asked. Is that his name on any of his children's births?
What railway company did he work for?
