Title: Lost Staffordshire Thomas Shenton!
Post by: DerekB on Wednesday 27 August 08 18:39 BST (UK)
I am looking for a Thomas Shenton who lived in Chelvey, Somerset in the 1750's.
Shentons are very scarce in Somerset, he turns up with a wife Hannah in Chelvey in 1746 and stays for the rest of his life, they have 8 children baptised in Chelvey.
I have looked long and hard for him either born or married in Somerset without success.
The other day I did a search on the IGI and found this:
Thomas Shenton married HANNAH WHIELDON on  08 MAY 1745 Croxden, Stafford they seem to have 1 daughter Mary on 11 AUG 1745 and then nothing more in Staffordshire that I can see.
Has anyone got this couple in their tree?
Did they dissapear from the record?
Could they have moved down to Somerset?
Any thoughts welcome
Thanks
Derek

I have a Hannah Whieldon, bpt. 27.10.1722 in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. She was daughter of my gr-5th-grandparents Joseph Whieldon and Aliciae Malkin - and sister of the potter Thomas Whieldon of Fenton.
