Alec

I'm interested in Shaws from Bradford. I have Mary (born 1831 to John & Ann Shaw of Girdington Road, Thornton) who married Joseph Kershaw on 3rd Jan 1853 in Bradford. I know there are many Shaws about, but if anything sounds remotely familiar, please let me know.

Nick

Hi Janette and Joe, looks like you two are still around.

Six and a bit years LATER ;D it looks like the answer to your question re "stoolin mill" has arrived.

If you look at the'W' on William Kendall, last name on family list on Ancestry census, you will see the first letter of 'stoolin' looks like a 'W' not an 'S'. Therefore occupation is "Labourer in Woollen Mill" and there were plenty of those around Pudsey in those days.

Ian :)

HUTTON:Knaresborough, Leeds, Pontefract

I suspect that the Knaresborough Hutton Families may have had some connection with Sir Richard Hutton - the Honest Judge - who bought the Goldsborough Estate near Knaresborough.   If so then look at Anthony Hutton and Hutton Hall in Penrith.
