Hi,
Can anyone give me any info on THOMAS RAISTRICK born 1819, died in 1860
Lived in Bradford, West Yorkshire, his wife was JANE HOPEWOOD who died in 1894.
I can't find them in 1841 census.
Regards
John

Hi John,
Are you saying you have found them in 1851? If so, where? :P
-
I cant see them in 1851 - nor can I see the marriage.
What is the source of the info you have?
I see Thomas's death in 1860 in Bradford
Is Jane's the one indexed as Jane Raisbrick in 1895, in Gainsborough Lincs? (bn approx 1820)
Have you got the certs?

Hi,
The info is for a friend in australia.
The info that he sent me was THOMAS RAISTRICK born in 1851.
His parents were THOMAS RAISTRICK & JANE HOPEWOOD.
I have checked the 1851 census and found a few but none with Jane as a wife.

Hmmm. The best match for Thomas jr I see is a Thomas born Birkenhead, son of Thomas and Mary. He seems to go on and marry an Ephraim ( ???) and have a son James.
What else do we know about young Thomas?
-
I only know what I have said.
I think the one you found is the one I had.
He said Thomas Snr. died in 1860 and Jane died in 1894.
This is all the info we have.

I seem to remember from my family research around the Halifax area, that Raistrick was the name of a quarry. Is it relevant perhaps??

I wonder who the Thomas Raistrick is who is the father of these kids..I did notice a 10yr old Thomas Raistrick living next door to Jane Hopwood in the 1841 cencus..maybe its him.. ??? ???..I cant see it being the old guy Thomas he would have been 80 when young thomas was conceived and even older if he fathered Joseph and Ann as well..Like Lizdb said..Surley not!!!!!

You have given me something to think about.
Many thanks to you all.

HI
I agree with what has been found so far by the Forum Detectives. I think that maybe your friend may have ommited to add on that Thomas had a sort of double barrell surname
Births 2nd ¼ 1851
Thomas Raistrick Lambert
Registered in Bradford Y/Bradford WEst Yorkshire
Vol 23

Maybe getting your friend to obtain this birth cert would finally confirm to them what is known/unknown to her.

Great finds, Jane! :D

HI
Found a possible connection between
Samuel Tyas bn circa 1829 as seen in the 1891 census
and
Jane Raistrick - Lambert
There is a Tree on Ancestry that shows Samuel's parents were Joseph Tyas and Hannah Lambert bn circa 1786.

Hi John
I find it very strange that your friend who asked you to try to find this info for him knew exactly when Thomas was born 1851..and he knew when Thomas Lambert died in 1860 and also that Jane died in 1894...surely he must have known about the "Lambert" name..he cant have got that info without knowing about it as its the name on the births deaths and marriage certs...
