Elizabeth parents may have been Thomas Walton b. 1725 Mancetter d.17 Feb 1765 and Elizabeth Power b.1729 Mancetter. They married 15 Feb 1749.  5 children Mary 19 Oct 1752, Thomas 2 Aug 1754, Elizabeth, Ann 23 Oct 1758 and Sarah 14 Mar 1761.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Anything at all would be great.

More specifically:

1. Where I could get a copy of Bill and Elizabeths Marriage certificate.

2. Date of death for both Bill and Elizabeth.

3. If they had any further children other than the 4 I have found/listed.

4. Any information about Bills parents and his brothers and sisters and their children.

5. Any information about Bill and Elizabeths Grandchildren.

Will see what I can find, may take a few days as I have to use the library when I have time and find a reader free.

You can find out more about Mancetter and what is available on - http://www.hunimex.com/warwick/opc/opc.html#M

There is a Turner mentioned in the M.I. Surnames list

Hello Ricky
According to the batches there are no other children for this couple, they may have moved to another Parish or one parent may have died. The NBI 2nd. ed. doesn't start until 1813 for Mancetter but they are not listed there.
As Al in Vane said the MI's list Turners in this Parish & they can be bought from here:
http://www.hunimex.com/warwick/mi/mi_indx.html
Cost £1.50.
Marriage certs. didn't start until 1837 so all you will have is the marriage entry. As you have a specific date you can contact the War.CRO & ask them to look for you, this is done FOC.If you want a photocopy of the entry I believe there is a charge of £1.50 for this.

Have had a quick look and for the 1700s Mancetter registers are better than most but it still takes time to go through them.
Have a copy of the marriage entry for Bill Turner (unusual that he used that name at that time) and Elizabeth Walton in front of me and both signed with superb signatures. One of the witnesses is Sarah Walton which may be of help to you, the other was Geo Haddon (all signed).
Like Jim I looked in the burials from 1813 and there were two entiries for Turner, William of Atherstone buried 11 December 1828 age 24 and William of Hartshill buried 4 February 1833 age 33.
I started to look at earlier burials and so far have found Elizabeth Walton buried 25 April 1790
Send me a private Email as it may take me some time to go through them, I can only devote a short time at each session.

Had a good session today and there is scant mention of Turners in Mancetter apart from what you already have. Searched for Turner deaths from 1780s to 1837 and apart from those I have already mentioned I found others.
Of interest though was that Geo Hadden who was a witness at the wedding of Bill and Elizabeth married Mary Walton at Mancetter on 6th December 1771 which does I think confirm the link between the two families.
Two other marriages I found may be of use, they are John Turnerx to Mary Prusonx on 17th May 1755 and Sarah Walton to Top (?) Dawson on 25th July 1763.
Mancetter was the main church for Atherstone, Hartshill, Oldbury and Mancetter itself at that time, the whole population of the four in 1801 being some three thousand odd, so the Turners could have lived at any of those. places I suppose

Ricky, I cannot see you getting any more information off the marriage entry than what I have already given you, it will only be the same as the register copy which I already have.
I will continue to look for more info probably after the weekend.

Title: Re: Bostock of Mancetter Atherstone
Post by: rbosco on Saturday 06 September 08 00:01 BST (UK)
This is my first posting on this site, which I am truly amazed by.   I just returned from my 1st visit to Atherstone (from Seattle) to research my family.

I am looking for the birth parents of Mary Bostock, born in Mancetter about 1825.  Apparently Mary had an illegitimate son named Thomas Bostock (born in Atherstone) who is my great grandfather.   My family records of the Bostocks end at Mary.   I do not know who her parents are or who the father of her child might have been.   It is said that she was sent to the Workhouses in Atherstone.

Mary's son Thomas ended up having a very large family of 11 or 12 children all raised in Atherstone.   I do have alot of information on his family.

I would appreciate any information you might find on this Bostock family.   I will be searching this site to see if I can help others with their research as well.

Thank you,

Randall Bostock

Atherstone came under Mancetter in those days. The Parish Registers would probably not have named the father. I will search for her christening next time I am looking at the Mancetter records.

Have you her whereabouts in 1841 census, if not I would open up a new thread asking for details.

Further to above a look in the IGI gives us Mary Bostock christened Mancetter 17 March 1825, daughter of John and Amy Bostock :)

John married Amy King 27th March 1815 at Mancetter.

John Bostock christened 7 November 1793 at Mancetter son of Joseph and Sarah.

It's all there in the IGI.

Thank you for this information.   I thought I had checked the IGI in the past.  With the source of information coming from the parish records for Mancetter, I feel comfortable with Mary's parents being  John  and Amy and John's parents being Joseph and Sarah.

This is information I had on some old papers but did not know the source.   Thank you so much for this information.   This site also gave me information on Mary's brother Joseph born in Mancetter.
