Can anybody please help me find an EDWARD YOUNGMAN FOX born about 1820 in Gresham. I know of 2 daughters, one named MARY ANN YOUNGMAN FOX born about 1843 in Gresham and SUSAN PINSON YOUNGMAN FOX born about 1847 in Bodham. Edward's wife died in 1847 but I do not know if he remarried. Thanks

Perhaps he had died by 1851 as well.
His daughters were living with their grandparents (HO107/1809) as Ann and Susan Youngman.

In 1861 he is living as Edward Youngman (RG9/1184). I can post details if you want.

And I have now found him in 1851 (HO107/1809) indexed as Yangman.
He appears to have died in Dec1877; I leave you to find him in 1871.

It looks as if Mary Ann was living with, and working for her grandparents; her father and sister were visiting at the time of the census, leaving stepmother and stepbrothers behind.
There are possible Edward Youngman/Harriet Willer marriages in Dec 1851 and Mar 1852.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for sending all of the information, sorry it has taken so long to reply. I have been going through all my records to see if I can find who it was who sent me the information that said that the name FOX was relevant. I know they sent lots of names and dates because they had been researching the same lines and they said that it was a really mixed up family but I am now wondering if they had it all wrong, I am going to keep looking.
I think I will have to also go through the birth records to see if the daughters were registered as Youngmans. I'll let you know.
Regards, Joan

They were registered as Fox, but Susan married in 1876 as a Youngman.
The usual explanation would be that they were the children of Edward and a Miss Fox, but he appears to marry a Willer. Perhaps Edward himself was illegitmate, the son of a Miss Fox.

Edward was born in 1820 and baptised in Gresham as Edward Fox. His mother was Ann Fox. She married John Youngman on 16 October 1821 at Gresham, Norfolk. Edward married Susan Pinson 5 May 1842 at Gresham and they had
Mary Ann Fox, born 1843, and Susan Fox born 1847 (Mother Susan died in 1847). Edward married Harriet Willer in 1852 in North Walsham, and signed the register as Edward Youngman or Fox. His second family were baptised as Youngmans and Mary Ann & Susan became known as Youngman. I am descended from John's second marriage.

Hi Pat,
Thank you for clearing that up for me, I just couldn't get my head around it so had put it to one side to come back to later. Maybe I can now do some more work on it.
Thanks again,
Joan
