Title: 1871 census look up
Post by: hockeymum on Thursday 27 January 05 11:54 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have access to the 1871 census for Leith.  I am looking for a John Melville, who I know lived at 67 Giles Street when he was married in 1875.  Can some kind soul have a look and tell me if he was there at that time or if he wasn't who did live there.

Many Thanks

The 1871 Census for that name can be accessed by searching out Familysearch.org. Use Advanced search, Type in the name and date and choose the All option and the Census Records should display along with any other information on that person.

Hi Search4me

I don't believe LDS currently have the Scottish Censuses info on line (except the index available through Scotlands People for 1881). There has been some talk about them putting some of the Scottish censuses from film on line, but don't believe that, as yet, these have been made available. This is what they are currently showing for the UK http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=allCollections&r=1

Can you post the link to the search screen you are referring to?
