Hi All
Is there a group out there that specialises in the history of the Bellew surname? I have an ancestor, Patrick Bellew, who I believe to be Irish, but I almost nothing to go on to research him. What is know is as follows:
Occupation: Lamp Merchant (taken from daughters marriage certificate, though unsure on first word)
Children: 1 know, Jane Bellew (1817 - 1886), was born in St Giles, London. Baptism record not found, therefore mother is unknown or if any siblings exist
Census Details: Does not appear on any UK Census'
A distant relative has notes on Jane's family, including a very small part on her parents, which suggests that either Patrick or Jane's mother were from a family of good standing
Any help would be really appreciated
Regards
Lee

More information has been found recently regarding Patrick Bellew. A summary has been given below, names have been angelised.
Religon: Roman Catholic
Occupation: Orange Merchant - Taken from daughter Jane's marriage certificate.
1809 Feb - Patrick Bellew married Anna Pippard (Peppard) at St Andrews, Dublin. Witnesses were George Bellew and Thomas Pippard (brothers, fathers?)
1809-1813 - Moved to London
1813 - Daughter Bridget born. Baptised at St Patrick, Soho Square.
1816 - Daughter Jane born. Baptised at St Patrick, Soho Square.
Whilst it is a start and confirms the suspected Irish link, I'm no closer to linking this family to any other Bellew's from Ireland or London.
Any help with tracing their origins would be really appreciated.
