Trying to find information on John Holmes born abt 1824? in Haxton. He married Emma Sheppard abt 1846.
I can't find his parents. any information would be greatly appreciated.

bride shown as Emma Shepherd.

A copy of the certificate should give the name of his father, plus occupation, which should help you to find him on 1841 census.

The 1851 census shows that John's wife Emma was born in Figheldine (shown on my copy of the census as Fielton).   Please confirm her place of birth as their marriage probably took place there.   I could look up the marriage or alternatively look up John's baptism - possibly Netheravon as I don't think there's a church at Haxon.

There is a baptism in Fittleton 27 Nov 1790 James Holmes s/o John and Sarah Holmes
