Considering civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages started in 1864 (from 1845 for other marriages) and not many records for 1700s exist it is unlikely that you will be able to find the parents of a man born in 1770. It's even possible that his parents weren't born in Ireland. Many Methodist families were from England orginially.
If you have census records for John Clendinnen it sounds as though he might have left Ireland?

GDAY Aghadowey:)
Thanks for your Reply...Well as he was a minister of religion he travelledwidely in ireland , stationed in different areas
Ive only found 2 of his kids births in ireland so far, may have been more dont know
He moved to Bideford Devon and retired there, Think his wifes family were originally from there
Family Talk is the name was Originally Glendinning from Border Area of Scotland, and when family moved to Co Down many Changed the G to a C

DNA studies revealed that He didnt Connect to the Family of William Glendinning and Rose Fisher who wre in Killyleagh Co Down, Soo the Book written on Family with Paper Trails , Threw a lot of our research out the Window

But DNA studies can be wrong till, Contaminated Samples etc etc, so who Knows
Regards
Cathy:)

Hi there.
I have many DNA matches with Glendinning/Glendenning/Clendinning etc...  Most of the folks I match with state that their oldest known ancestor was from Dumfriesshire Scotland.
My ancestors, the Mavity's, came from Cavan in 1765.
I also match Elliot/Elliotts and MacGregor.
Would you like to compare notes?

Brian Mavity
