Hi Facellia,
I remember a thread on "Foords in Sussex" here on Rootschat have you tried the search facility - it may turn out to be the same ones.

Hi "facellia".....I don't think I have any information for you......however, please check my website here:
http://www.execulink.com/~lfoord/index/jfoord.htm
there is some Sussex info there, and if you see anything you think might connect, let me know and I'll go through my notes and see if I have anything further. Also, since my Foords are from Maidstone area, if you have any connection there let me know as I do have quite a lot from that part of the UK. And if not, anything's worth try, and good luck.......Larry Foord

Thanks Uncle Larry will check out the link.
As far as I know all my Foords are from Eastbourne/Seaford/ Friston/East Dean & nearby
-
Hi Uncle Larry.Have previously seen you Foord web site, excellent.
Have checked my information & unfortunately cannot see any connection at present apart from the name.
The earliest Foord I have is William Foord b 1773 in Folkington (Near Eastbourne) & marrying an Elizabeth, surname unknown, in Westham again near Eastbourne, they appear to have also had several children
-
Hi
The Sussex Marriage Index has a marriage for William Foord on 21 May 1793 to Elizabeth French in Folkington. The only Westham one may be a son - to Philadelphia Message in 1817. There is another marriage in Eastbourne to Elizabeth Cowstick. 10 Oct 1871. Parents maybe?

Thanks Andrea, slightly confusing as I have got William Foord marrying Elizabeth (?) 1790 Westham, although that would only make william 17 & yours is 3 years older which makes more sense.
Also have their Son William marrying in 1817 to a Philadephia but a Mc Gregor not Message, maybe a clerical error there with the surname.
-
The SMI is generally very accurate but as with any transcribed index you need to look at the original. Have you found Philadelphia's birth? According to the licence information she is from Hellingly. (At the time of marriage). McGregor is not exactly a Sussex name! There are 6 entries for it on the SMI and 57 for Message so that is not too common either.

Thanks Andrea for info, will have to do some further investigation. Your info sounds more plausible to me. Ta.

Hi Facelia,
Emma Foord (b 1883) was the aunt of Lilian Thurza Foord (b 1910). Lilian's parents were Albert James Foord and Olive Maud Foord. Olive Maud Foord was the sister of Emma Foord (i.e. daughters of Richard Foord and Emma Alce). To the best of my knowledge, these two Foord lines are not related.
Lilian Thurza Foord is my fourth cousin once removed.
The ancestry for Albert James Foord is as follows:
James Foord m Elizabeth Hager
John Foord m Elizabeth Searle
William Foord m Philadelphia Message (this is the name given in the SMI)
William Foord m Elizabeth ?
William and Elizabeth were my gggg grandparents
Descending from William and Elizabeth:
Edward Foord m Jane Bodle
William Foord m Jane Sellens
Edward Foord m Emily Stemp
Horace Foord m Violet Thomas
Doreen Foord m Roy Milton
Mark Milton
I have seen mention that William (m Elizabeth) was born in Folkington in 1773 but have not seen the primary information for that. William and Elizabeth appear in Westham in the 1790s (based on baptisms of their children) and some of their descendants stayed in Westham for the best part of 100 years.
Where do you fit into these Foord lines?
Regards
Mark Milton

Thanks Mark for all the Foord info, sorry for delay in relpy but have been away.
Coincidence here, I am related to Lilian Thurza Foord, but not "yours" mine was born 1877-1959 & was my Grandmother, she was a sister to Olive Maud Foord b1886 who was the mother of your Lilian Thurza. My Granmother was the mother of my mother, Lilian Mary.
I knew Olive Maud & used to visit her in my youth.
