Thanks again Lorraine

Sorry Wizz I meant Sneinton and I also have his birth in Sneinton as 20 November 1715 He had his first child in 1738

William baptised 20/Nov/1715 at Sneinton was the son of John & Alys Flinders according to the Flinders Surname Database.
William & Ellin's first son was John baptised Sneinton 1738 and likely named for his paternal grandfather.
Benjamin Flinders of Shelton married 1st Mary Horsley, then Ann Cottingham.

John Flinders, son of John and Mary (Spawton) F. relocated to Donington and married Mary Obrey. Source being research done by Capt. Matthew Flinders RN 1774 - 1814, and his grandson Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie.
It is my understanding that John who married Alys X was the son of John and Alice (Wright) F. The younger John was baptised at Gedling 9/Jul/1671.

Hi Casey
????
The John who married Alice X the first child they had was in 1707 in Sneinton this would make the John baptised 9-7-1671 36 years old before he married I have all the baptisms burials and marriages for Sneinton and Gedling (For the Flinders surname appropriate to the years we needed) my sister and myself spent many years visiting the archives but went to Sneinton church to go through the parish registers as at the time they were still held at the church .
I hope we do not have this wrong is there proof that the John son of John and Mary relocated to Donington ?
Also do they have the parents of John who married Mary Spawton listed
Regards Lorraine

Hi Lorraine,
Going back to your original enquiry.... :)
I have checked the All Saints Church, Gainsborough marriage entry for William FLINDERS and Ellin CRACROFT and it says William was from Sneinton in the County of Nottingham and Ellin was from Gainsborough.
Incidentally that's the only FLINDERS marriage between 1700-1753.

Thank you
It is the right person they had their first child in Sneinton
