Hi
I am looking for any info on the EDDLES / LEE family of Torquay, Newton Abbot and St Mary Church.
This is unfortunately all I have at present.
William James EDDLES born 1868 St Mary Church to Alfred Richard EDDLES and Caroline LEE. Alfred might have been known as Richard? He was born 1847 Bisley, Gloucester while Caroline was born 1848 St Mary Church. Alfred was a Stone Mason. I believe one of the Eddles brothers built a church in Torquay or St Mary Church?
William James EDDLES died in 1913 Simonstown,South Africa.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Amanda

Hi
I just did a search on Eddles. I was born in South Africa but have lived in London for most of the last 18 years. My mother's maiden name was Shirley Eddles and she talked of the British Eddles family owning bakeries.

Hi
Have sent you a Personal Message.

Hi. Thanks. I couldn't read the message. There was an error on the page.

Hello all
I am interested in the Eddles connection to bakeries in the Torquay area.
My relative, Ella Ellis (b 1898 in Staverton, Devon) married Claude Eddles (b 1895). Ella went to Bloemfontein, South Africa in 1912 and lived there until the 1920s. Her father William Ellis (a baker by profession) died out there in 1918.
I can't find any record of Claude's birth in the UK nor can I find him on a census. But have found his death in the Newton Abbot area in 1950. Also, can't find a record of his marriage in the UK - I presume he married Ella in South Africa.
Have found record of 'Eddles & Ellis Bakers' - with 3 shops in Torquay in the 1930s. The 'Ellis' half of the partnership was William Owen Ellis, brother of Ella.
Any further information gratefully received :)

Hi
My mother was one of the Bloemfontein Eddles family. Her brother Clive Eddles
still lives there. He was born in the thirties and will potentially know more about this.
-
Hello
Thanks for that. If your uncle has any knowledge of the Eddles family in South Africa (particularly Bloemfontein) I would be very interested to hear it.

Hi All!
Sorry to revive what appears to be an old thread but I stumbled upon this site while doing research into the Eddles surname.
My mother is an Eddles from Bloefontein. Her father was Sydney James Eddles (1912 - 1991) and her grandfather was Edward Stabb Eddles.
I have a copy of Edward Stabb Eddles death certificate and it states that his father was Richard Eddles and his mother Caroline Lee. I believe that Richards parents were William and Rhoda. Am I correct? Has anyone managed to go further back at all? Would love to get as much info as possible :)
Thanks for taking the time to read this :)
