Title: Long shot
Post by: oldboysquidge on Friday 01 August 08 20:46 BST (UK)
:-\ Really trying hard to find My grandmothers Brother.
What I know is he was born in 1913 in Gledhill street, Salford to Mabel Elizabeth Russ and Arthur Blake. They also had Mabel born 1913,
Harry presumably went on to Marry in about 1958, had two daughters Dawn and another girl, he died in approximately 1966 in Manchester, :-\
Would like to find them.

Hi oldboysquidge !

Actually Mabel's birth is registered in the first Qtr. of 1912
Harry's being registered in the Qtr. to September 1913

If I were you I'd obtain his death certificate and see who registered his death, as it may have been a family member, and it should tell you where both were living at the time.

Hi oldboysquidge

I took a slightly different approach, and a long shot

You mention a Dawn Blake born after 1958 - so I looked at the 1984+ marriage index and found only one Dawn Blake, married July 1986, Manchester,  to Mark Whelan, Vol 3, Page 753

Then looked at 192 site and Bt site (directory)

and found 5 x M Whelans on 192 and 15 x M Whelans on BT

You would need to look yourself as it would be a breach of privacy if I place the address's and numbers here.

Said it was a long shot, but you may get direct contact with Dawn Blake, if you have time to chase up and contact these Whelans.

Ken

Hi,

Death of Harry Blake in Jan - March Qtr 1979 in Manchester date of birth was 6th July, 1913.  I can`t read the reference as it has been added by hand but it looks like 38 J`79 which isn`t right.  He is buried in Southern Cemetery looking at the online Burial records.

Regards,
Mo

Hi,

Apologies I meant to add the link but the other half wanted running up the club.

http://www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk/

You can do basic searches but then have to buy credits if you want more information.  If you want to see all the Blakes buried in Southern then just type in the Surname and tick the Exact box and enter Southern for the cemetery.  Leave everything else blank.

Regards,
Mo

Yes i am really glad now I am going to get the death certificate and see where to go from there.
I have tried the numbers from BT but no luck I am in process of trying numbers from 192.
