Has anybody heard of a May Boardman? Believe her father was Charles Boardman b1872 in Cheetwood Manchester. His first wife died and he remarried in 1909. At that time he lived at Cheetham.
May is thought to be his daughter from first marriage, so would have been born before 1909.
Any help with this appreciated

Hi Delcom and welcome to Rootschat.
I think you really need a bit more information, as there are a few May Board,am's on Free bmd at the time, Only eligible one I can find in 1901 is in Bradford/ Beswick, Newton N Manchester,
78 Queen St
Charles Hy Boardman, 27, Railway ?? worker, born Failsworth and wife Mary 29, b Manchester,
Children, Ethel (2) and May (1m) both b Manchester.
But of course Charles may still have been single at the time, or May may not yet have been born.
I don't know the areas of Manchester well enough.
Do you know an approximate birth date, or father's occupation?
Best wishes

I found a likely marriage for Charles Henry Boardman and Mary (in Emms post) on Lancashire bmds, 1896. http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/
But they also had this one which looks promising:
Charles Boardman m Margaret Melia, Cheetwood St Alban 1901.
If this is the right Charles, then maybe May was born between 1901-1909, so wouldn't be on the census.
I think for Cheetwood, the registration district would be Prestwich (now part of Manchester), which isn't covered on Lancs bmds yet. There were these Boardman girls registered in Prestwich on free bmds
Florence May, 3rd quarter 1905
Gladys May, 3rd quarter 1900
May, 2nd quarter 1898
May, 2nd quarter 1908
Possibly more than you wanted!

I'm new to Rootschat, but first of all, thank you all for your help. When Charles remarried he lived at Cheetwood Lane ( Is that the same as Cheetwood St?) and the marriage certificate was in the Prestwich area. He was a carter. I made a mistake with the dob. He was born in 1878 according to his birth certificate. The post by BarbaraH looks promising, but which one? Hmmmm.

I think your Charles was unmarried in 1901 -so possibly the 1908 one is the best bet
I will post some census shortly - then see what you think?

When Charles remarried he lived at Cheetwood Lane ( Is that the same as Cheetwood St?)
Cheetwood Lane no longer exists, but is on the older maps next to Cheetwood Rd. It ran by a clay pit/brickworks and was close to several waterproofing factories (where Dannimac started out I think?) so there would be plenty of work for a carter.

1881 (what looks like your Charles) lived at 38 Cheetwood lane
RG11 4022 18 29
1891 still at same address
RG12 3262 48 37
1871 the faamily were at 22 Broad lane Cheetham
RG13 2773 15 22
I thought I had charles in 1901 -but can't seem to find him
However, I think the may boardman b 1898 is possibly the daughter of Peter Boardman -who may related to Charles ??

Charles Boardman lived at Cheetwood Lane when he remarried in 1909, fitting in with the the census information from Suzy and Daisy. When he remarried in1908 he was a carter, which fits with the 1901 census. I was surprised to find his mother remarried, but when Charles remarried in 1909 his father was dead. To my knowledge, none of my relatives mentioned such an event?
Thanks for all your help and sorry for the delay in replying
