i never knew my family untill my dad got in touch with me in when i got married. i knew him 2 years then he died. Other than that i know I have an uncle called brian and my grandads name is colling. My dad was born dunfrice i think, and married my mother in the seventies. I was born a month later. I was in contact with brian but we lost touch when he moved now i have no way of tracing him or anyone else in my family last time i saw them i was 2.
had grandmother she died grand dad married again dont know to who or bristol
grandad had 3 sons 2 daughters not sure on there names.
if any one can help pleasee would be great as i am new to this but my partner dad does this under the name ricky1 so can you please help me with any info thank you very much from all the heidi family

Hi and welcome to rootschat
You may have to alter your post a bit (use the modify button) as we do not usually give any details of living people so the moderators may censor bits of it! Have a look at www.ancestry.co.uk and the Free Births Deaths and Marriages bit may well have the registration details you need to order certificates. I assume you mean Dumfries - which is in Scotland so that will mean searching there for those details.
I am sure Ricky1 will point you in the right direction for a lot of this.

thanks for that i have just emended it now and have removed living people details how do i go about tracing people that may be living and how to do i trace back wards ??

To work backwards from what you already have you need to look at the certificates you have - start with your own parents' marriage cert, which should give you parents' fathers' names and occupations. Talk to living relatives to get as much info as you can before investing in more certs.
Have a read of the posts on this board, especially the "stickied" topics at the top, and you should get the idea with a little help from Ricky!
