Title: Has anyone seen this name on a gravestone!!
Post by: Loretogirl47 on Sunday 27 July 08 03:00 BST (UK)
My G. Grandmother  Martha Alice Cottrill, died in 1928, her death was registered in Ormskirk.  I have tried to find out where she was buried with no success.  If anyone has seen her name, or her husbands name, John Herbert Cottrill, on a gravestone anywhere I would be eternally grateful.  When I was in the UK last spring I spent hours wandering around cemeteries in Lancashire looking for them.  Its possible they could be buried in a catholic cemetery as they, or at least he converted, not sure if she did.

Hi

Have you tried emailing or asking for a look up in the local paper at the local studies library.  Often death anounements gave place of burial - if you've got the exact date it shouldn't be too bad to do.

Not sure where the nearest RC cemetery is.  I know there's one in Ainsdale, but probably there's a nearer one, or part of Ormslirk cemetery?

Best wishes

Emms

If you get the death cert it will have her address and informant, that might give a clue, in Burscough there is 1 RC Church and 1 in Ormskirk, I'll start with them this week and have a quick look around for you,  JOHHNIE ..

Update to this.  I have found the grave I was looking for.  Both G. grandparents buried in Duke St. cemetary, Southport.  Thanks to all who helped in the search.
