Could SKP please look up William Beck born 1806 living in Dumfriesshire with Jean and their 4 children. Is there an address? Their son John is my g.g.grandfather, he moved to Nottingham and became a draper.
Thanks in advance :) :)

Thanks Barbara ;D ;D
This is them. Do you know the area? Is this address still there?
I have just found them on the 1851 census when they were living in Greenburn Cottage, Applegarth. Think I'm going to have to brush up on my geography, Dumfries isn't an area I have much knowledge of!! :-[
Little Grace isn't listed so I presume she died but they had 4 more children.

Hi Lucy,
No I'm not from Scotland, but here's a parish map:

You could see the full census image on scotlandspeople.gov.uk (pay-to-view)

If you are still researching this beck family then I may be able to help with further details. My line is from Jean (7 in the 1841 census). Grace didn't die but I think was in a houshold in Moffat in 1851. She later married a Kenneth McEwen and moved to Wales.
Your gggrandfather John I think married Elizabeth Webster?
I have some photographs of Applegarth and the headstone of William Beck.
