Hi,
In case you haven't got it yet, birth entry from freebmd.rootsweb.com
Richard John Firmin, b. 1893 Poplar
Then I looked for Richard in 1901 census, but I don't know...
Two Richard Firmans are listed:
age 6, b. Steeple Bumpstead
age 7, b. Norfolk Silfield
I don't have access to get you the families, but someone else definitely will. Maybe post another message, asking for a 1901 lookup for Richard.
(hopefully it's not another case of missing Firmins - I'm also researching this name, and my people were missing from 1901!)
Good luck!

Thank you for info
Firmin is my wifes maiden name. I cannot find any reference to likely looking Firmins in any census returns.
Her father always called himself Richard Johnbut actually his name is Richard Henry and his father was Richard John.
I cannot find any other reference to the Firmin family in the East End of London. Anything further would help

A link for you. Someone is researching Firmin in Middlesex (didn't say what years) -- just in case you want to email them to see if there's any connection.

Hi Ken
This thread is very old - but I am also interesting in the firmin family. I am connected to them - they were living in Rainham Kent. I have a tiny family tree of my little connection.

Hi there and Welcome to Rootschat,
The original poster Kenneath hasn't been online for nearly 5 years (Jan 2011),but as long as he hasn't changed his email address he should be notified that we have posted here and hopefully will come back online.
Regards
Carol

pk1 - I have an interest in a Firmin/Firman family who lived in Norfolk, However their sons were born in Bethnal Green and one of these son's wives had a child in Chatham (not so far from Rainham) in 1915.
PM me if you think there may be a connection.
