Hi there all,
Just me again with another insane marriage request. Ruth Finey (also known as Dolly) born about 1896 in Auckland married a man by the name of Morris. Got no other information other than that.
Can anyone find any record of a marriage between a Finey and a Morris? If I have that then I may be able to find out where they are buried (as such...maybe). ;D

Was Ruth her middle name? I found a Hannah Ruth Finey married in 1918 to a Malcolm Nicol McCready folio No: 0903, but divorced 1923-1924 BBAE 4984.
So far haven't been able to see a remarriage. Maybe someone else might have a few more ideas where to look.

I honestly don't know if Ruth was a something Ruth or a Ruth something. I have found many name differences along the way with people. I've seen the same record but like you have no idea if it is relevant. Will hope for a breakthrough somewhere.

Hi Bunny,
It was worth a try. I guess she will pop up when she is ready and when you aren't looking for her, I have usually found that is the way.
Mk2, I got the information from the NZ Marriages 1836 - 1956 and from the NZSG Index Version 5.

Just had a thought, (sorry but didn't have my sherlock holmes hat on to dig deeper into the grey matter) "Dolly" is the diminutive of "Dorothy". So a possibility that Dorothy is one of her given names.

You were right! I found out from Polly that Ruth was indeed Hannah Ruth and that she had married Malcolm McCready that you found a later divorce for. ;)
However that doesn't solve the mystery of what happened to her ???.
Does anyone have access to the NZ Burial Locator to see if it is possible to find a Hannah Ruth anybody??

Bunny, I was glad that I was able to help solve that mystery. I think at the same time I checked my burial locator and couldn't find her under McCready. Tried putting in her forenames but locator tells me has to be surname as well.
I will have a go on my NZSG Index putting in just Hannah Ruth and see what I get.
Will let you know how I go.

Bunny, you said you would get a breakthrough, but I don't think you are there yet.
Came up with 33 records of Ruth (Elizabeth, Eliz) Hannahs,
(Lucy) Hannah (Mary) (May) Ruths (Maria)
There is only one marriage for a Ruth Hannah for 1929 and that is it.
Haven't been able to find anything under the name Morris either.
Wonder if she went overseas? Still scratching my head on this ::)

I'll go get my shovel and dig about a bit and see if I can find out anything else. I wish I knew where I got the Morris thing from. May have to dig out all my original data to see where that came from.

While you are digging around with your shovel, how about checking the electoral rolls or Wises Directory for Whangarei, to see if they were in Whangarei around the time of marriage.
Could be that he moved back there after the war :)

I can see that this one is in "completed requests" however I can't see the actual answer to the original question so I hope it is still OK to post to it.
Hannah Ruth (Dolly) Finey was my grandmother, so I can tell you a little about her life.
Her second husband was a Morris, my grandfather. He was an Australian, George Bernard, who was born in 1893. His birth and their marriage in 1930 is recorded in the New South Wales Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
I understand that Nana and Pop moved from NZ to Australia in about 1928, and Nana died in Sydney in 1988.

So very freaking fabulous to meet you!!!!!! :D If you know the family tree at all I come from Dolly's eldest sister Eva Jane. I'd love to know more so I can add more twigs to the tree ;D. I never knew there were so many of us out there until our cousin Pauline heard my chatting cries.

If you google MyHeritage.com and sign up for free then find Finey family tree under me Linda Slade (Shilton) family tree, then you will find heaps I've set up from all the docs my aunty Joy Mee (nee Finey) gave me.
