I have just found that my wife had a relation who was hung for a murder in 1955.
At the time it was a question whether he commited the crime, and still is today.
Does anyone else on Rootschat have a murderer in the family?
Best wishes

Yes I do, but there in prison today, so not much help. Do you know the area that the murder took place? A victim's name? That way you research the incident and maybe even archive his inmate details?

Did you get the info from this website?
http://www.capitalpunishmentuk.org/contents.html
it lists who was hanged, in what year and where. Then there are links to the various prisons, and more of an explanation of certain cases.
I do too, my GG Grandfather slit his daughters throat and then his own.

Sorry for the delay in replying
My murder was done in 1954 so all of the reports were in back issues of the local press.
I think he was hung by Albert Pierrpoint at Lincoln Prison.
Best wishes

i used to want to be a scaffolder :)
i do have a murderer he hit his wife over the head several times with a small hammer used for coal as he was jealous over her for no apparent reason - the press says- and then he hanged himself.
