Title: 1851 census - Dolphin, Condover
Post by: sammidav on Sunday 23 January 05 17:17 GMT (UK)
Hello, I am looking for Emma Dolphin (who in family lore) was I believe born in Condover in 1835. I have failed to find her in the on-line LDS website so I would be please if someone could check the 1851 or 1841 census results.
Thank you very much,
Samantha

Hi Samantha

The 1841 census shows the following at Condover:

HO107/910 Page 1.
Edward DOLPHIN, 35, Schoolmaster, born in Shropshire
Eliza DOLPHIN, 35, born in Shropshire
Ralph DOLPHIN, 9, born in Shropshire
William DOLPHIN, 6, born in Shropshire
Harriet DOLPHIN, 13, born in Shropshire
Emma DOLPHIN, 11, born in Shropshire
Eliza DOLPHIN, 3, born in Shropshire
Martha DOLPHIN, 3, born in Shropshire

There are no other DOLPHIN families in Condover at the time.

I have the parish records for Condover but they only go up to 1812 unfortunately.

Best wishes
Karen

Hi Sam

Hope you get this message - I was exploring Google and happened upon you on Rootsweb and some messages you sent in 2005.  I am also descended from Edward Dolphin and Richard Bromley and can send you lots of interesting reports about them.  I'm assuming we have not been in contact before?
Please reply if you are able and we can share some information.
Best wishes
Filz

Hello Filz,
Very good to hear from you. Where are you based? I am in Staffordshire.
So which branch of the Dolphin-Bromley family are you from? Sarah Emma Bromley was my great grandma and Emma Dolphin my great great grandma.
If you have any information that would be really nice to see,
Best wishes,
Samantha

Hi Samantha

Also very good to hear from you.  We are certainly distantly related.  I'm descended from Richard Patteshall Bromley and his first wife, Eliza Dolphin (Emma's sister, as I expect you know).  So we both have the Dolphins and the Bromleys in our ancestry.  My ancestor was Richard's and Eliza's first daughter, Mary Ann, who migrated to Australia with her husband, Benjamin Joseph Woodhouse, in 1901.  I live in Australia.

I found Sarah Emma on my family history database, but I have no other information about her or her descendants, except for her marriage to Joseph William Dawson.  I'd be very interested to see what you have and to share what I know about the family (I have quite a database by now!).

Can we communicate by private email?  I'm happy to do so.  I don't know how to go about giving you my private email address on Rootsweb without it being open to the public.  Do you have any ideas on this?  Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Very best wishes
Filz
