Title: BELL BROUGHTON WORCESTER - LOCATION?
Post by: Marjorie on Friday 09 April 04 11:08 BST (UK)
I wonder if someone could kindly tell me whereabouts BELL BROUGHTON is in WORCESTER?     My Grt. Grt. Grandfather  was born there I think - but cannot find whereabouts it is.  His wife was born at HAGLEY in WORCESTER - but again I cannot trace.    I am not sure if in fact they are both areas of Worcester, or villages in Worcestershire.   Would be grateful for any info.

Many thanks.

Looked at the gazetteer on www.old-maps.co.uk . Hagley is there in Worcestershire, no Bell Broughton, but a Belbroughton.

Hello Marjory
Guess who live in the beautiful village of Belbroughton Worcestershire, well I do, eat your heart out, it an old industrial village long since ruralised, in the 17th 18th and 19th centuries was famous for making tools like scythes, spades picks ect but now its sleepy and quiet.  The first link is the village website check out the scarecrow page, the second is from a Worcestershire website and the last is from Streetmap is a good site for you favourites  http://www.streetmap.co.uk/

Good luck and Happy Easter Chris Rose.
Ps The spelling varies from time to time throughout history sometimes with one L sometimes with two.
