Hi , I am trying to find the parents of James Craig b 1810 Shotts he married a Jane Wilson b 1810 married in 1830 any help much appreciated

Hello,
When, where did he die? His death entry - if death in Scotland should give both parents names and mothers maiden surname - assuming the person reporting was aware of it.
The more info you give, the more help lurkers can give.
Regards, Steve

Hello, I've just started working on this branch of my family tree. John Craig (born 1830) was my great, great, great grandfather. His father was James Craig, born circa 1810, and his Mother was Jane Wilson. They were married in1830 in Shotts. I just came accross the following from: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/LANARK/2002-05/1022361864
Samuel Meuros Treasurer of the Poor Funds of Bartram Shotts, vizt (P.90)
1830 Janry 3 To James Craig & Jane Wilson both in this parish "2"6
Wonder if the assistance was to pay for their wedding?!
I hope this info is useful :)

Veronica, this was the fee charged by the parish for posting the proclamation of Banns (of marriage). Not the other way around!
The money was put into the poors fund.

Here is the gravestone of Samuel Meuros and his family. As well as being the parish session clerk (and keeper of the parochial records) he was the village schoolmaster. Bertram Shotts is the old name for Shotts.
