Title: Link: Geelong VIC Cemeteries searchable index back to 1839
Post by: Deb D on Saturday 21 June 08 07:32 BST (UK)
Have just found this online (and found the resting place of one of my mystery people!).  Thought it might be helpful: - do you have a relative who "went missing", with the possibility he/she went off to the goldfields?  This is where many of the prospectors and their families were laid to rest: -

Just click on "Deceased Search"  :)

That's so generous of you, Scruffy!  Thank you!

I have a relative in Geelong Eastern - Mary Ann Tatham, ref 95242, C of E - but she may not have a headstone, so finding her may be difficult.  The website isn't working properly for me tonight, so I can't get the full "position" reference, it's just saying "COEO*X***X".

Mary Ann died in December 1857; she was the wife of Duncan Dunbar Tatham, and the mother of infants Justina and Duncan John.

Cheers
Deb

Hi Scruffy,

I don't know if you still do this but my mum is in her 70.  Her father is burried in Geelong Eastern cemeteries.  It has not been that long since she found that out because he divorsed her mum when she was in her teans.  She never saw him again.  A picture of his grave would really make her day.  If your passing would it be possible.  What a surprise that would be for her.  It would make her day.

Cemetery   Geelong Eastern Cemetery
Location   RG50*5***1
________________________________________
Register #   901244
Surname   WALTERS
Given Names   ARTHUR WILLIAM
Service Date   18 Apr 1984
Date of Birth
Date of Death   18 Apr 1984
Age   77
It says there are no other deceased in this grave.  But my mum thought he was burried with his wife.

Not sure if you still can do this but here's hoping.
Kind Regards

Stef Parry

 :)

Thank you very much.  I really do apreciate it.  His wife name was beatrice Walters.  My mum seem to think they were burried together but I am not sure.  Its only been a little while ago that she has found out he lived in Austraila.  She had not been able to find him for ages.

Kind Regards

Stef Parry
