Quick look on Ancestry gives the impression that it is Scottish.

Have you traced back from yourself, father, mother with maiden name;  grandfathers, grandmothers with maiden names, and so on?

1901 census (first couple of pages) shows this name Northumberland, Durham mainly, if you're looking in England.  Fits in with the Scottish link I suppose  ;)

yes i am a fettis from the northumberland area .have searched my tree a little .

Hi snoozy.

My father came from the Durham area and was also a fettis.
If I can, I will try and find out what i can about my family and will let you know what i find.
