Wow! Graceland's gonna love that one Bob! ;D

Now listen here Graceland - you sent me all those lovely photos of Mitcheldean - next time could you just stand in front of the headstone and get the wife to take the piccy?

How can I thank you properly if I can only see you as a little baby?

We know your hair is not black like Elvis so - Redhead?
Brunette? Blond?   ??? Put us out of our misery man!

We'll even wait till you get back!

Darcy ;)

Because you have all been so brave. ;).. I decided to let you see me on a good day ;D... not as I sit at the computer after tearing my hair out because of the walls getting higher not lower... trawling through pages and pages of entries copied from my day at the fiche reader... only to realise I missed the page I really needed ! :'(

Best wishes

As I can't sleep on plans an 18+ hours flight just kills me.

You want to see a piccy of me when I was his age (apart from the 1960's hair style) we could be twins.  He gets called minny me, which the wife hates.

Hi

try that again, with
[ img]C:\Documents and Settings\Julie\My Documents\My Pictures[ /img] and it should work ! (without the blanks after [ )

better still, use the "attatchment" feature to load the picture to RootsChat.

If it still doesn't work, read this http://www.rootschat.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=12753.0  and then ask again !

Good luck !

dont understand this, most people seem young in the pics, i thought family history was an older persons hobby (im in between age wise, but im one of the 'youngsters' at my local family history meetings, good for the ego) but think i'll keep a low profile on rootsweb, cant keep up with the competition!

Being a "young genealogist" has its disadvantages....no-one takes you seriously for starters. Like I said in another thread, when I walk into a Record Office the receptionist gives me a stern look and says "...You can't come in here to use the toilet you know!!!..."

This is me and mine taken about 7yrs ago although i like to think I haven't changed very much (same hairstyle anyway). It's the children who have changed I mean all the tattoos and piercings and that's just the 7 year old   :-[

The busiest person (and the most successful  >:() at the local FHS is just turned 20.  He started on his family tree on a dare at 17, because he didn't know who his father was.  He has found a huge family on his father's side, and on at least 5 lines is back to the mid-1500s.  All documented!

And he holds a full-time job, as well as participating in a medieval re-creation group.

I used to have that kind of energy . . . how long ago?!?!?!

My friend and I (both age 4) had identical teddies, and we were 'grooming' them outside, where my Dad had left a large bucket of creosote which smelt nice, so we thought our Teddies would like a nice bath .... we not only soaked them in it, but ourselves as well ... we couldn't sit down for a week afterwards !!

As its my dads birthday in a couple of weeks, we thought it would be nice for our daughter (16 months) to also give him a present. So at the weekend we put her hand and footprints on a piece of paper, each in a different colour. It looks really nice, my dad will be over the moon.

Last night I get in from work, my daughter is playing in her room, suspiciously quiet. I go in and see what she's doing and am greeted by a 3 foot Al Jolson.

She had rummaged in her cupboard, found the paints, taken them out of the box, screwed the lid off the black jar and smeared it all over her top half, hands, face hair, jumper. You can imagine the picture. To top it all, she had also made us a present of her hand prints. All over the wallpaper, her wardrobe, her bed.

I then got told off (to put it mildly) by my wife for laughing, although its her fault for putting the paint where Carys can reach it  :(

The poor child!!! I blame the parents entirely. She only carried on what the parents had started, poor mite. ::)

(I did intend this as 'tongue in cheek' but reading it later that is not as obvious as I intended so I'm bunging this bit in. ;D)

I am sure that Carys thought it was completely reasonable,  you made a fuss of her prints the first time,  she was just making some more,  surprise prints.  ::)

I know, I know, thats why I had to laugh.

As I was the one who "discovered" her, and as was the one who laughed, I had to clear it all up. Luckily it was water based and came off easily, apart from a few marks on the wallpaper, so I've put a sticky label next to it with the date. If she does it on a regular basis, we can monitor her growth  ;D

Yes, I have still got my Teddy as well as my sister's as she didn't want him.  My Mum had a very moth-eaten dog (like a Teddy but a dog) and I have that too.

Hoarder?  ME?

I will try to add a more recent picture soon.

Come on Paul E,  Moscan and Kazza - let 's see some nice ones of you for a change,

Fair enough Mobo.  Here's a piccie from the West Hampstead Herring Appreciation Society's annual trip to the Helsinki Herringfest 2002.  Oh, it seems such an age ago, but the memory of the smell is still so vivid.   :-[  And that was just at Standstead before we'd left the UK!

Incidentally, I am not the one in the red beret, but I'd rather not say which one of the others I am (although I'm happy to take bets!)  Any guesses?  Answers on an e-mail to 'Spot The Genealogist Competition, c/o The Lighter Side'.

Regards

Hello all.
I'm lovin' the photos, I hope you can keep them coming!! I agree with what away said way back a few pages, that people do not tend to take 'youngsters' who are into family history seriously, but believe me - we are VERY capable. That's why I'm often reluctant to reveal my age. But anyone will be able to work it out now. Please be kind :-\

Attached is me when I was three (I'm a poet and I didn't know it :)). Okay, in unison, everyone cry: "AWWWW!!".

Ryan.

Yes Mobo, Fitty kindly put it up for me as I couldn't fathom how to do it.  It was taken the night we went to an Edwardian Evening at Dunham Hall, Dunham Massey.  Magical  night, where everyone dressed up. There was a brass band, fireworks, penny fathings, old cars, horses and carriages, picnics on silver salvers, champagne by the bucket full, strawberries and cream.  Croquet on the lawn, Can Can dancers in the Orangry.  A night to remember.   ...

Will put another picture up shortly of  Karl (my new found rellie on Rootschat) and me, when it comes back from the developers ... I don't own a digital camera yet, as I wouldn't know how to work it ... it's only taken me nine months to finally put a photo up !!!

Ooooh lovely Su - what a great evening it must have been - I've seen those events advertised many times at Dunham Massey Roundabout, but have never been to any of them - when was it ??

We usually go to the open air ones at Gawsworth Hall and take a picnic with 'shampers' and 'strawbs' etc.  Luverly....... The last one we went to was 'Oliver' and it was great.

Hi Mobo

My mum and dad got the last of the "good looking" genes in our family - they'd run out by the time my generation arrived!

My sensibilities for the sensitivity of fellow Rootschatters (and particularly their children and pets who may accidentally catch sight of the screen) has hitherto prevented me from posting a mugshot! :)

cheers

I reckon its because Paul E is actually someone famous and he (or she) doesn't want to tell us  ;D

I have been thinking about famous Paul's and so far can only come up with Newman, McCartney or Gasgoyne, thats is presuming that Paul is his first name of course!

Come on Paul you can trust us, it will only cost you the odd autograph or signed piccy  ;)

Well spotted Al.  A lot of my relations think that I resemble my Nan.

She had 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls, and 8 of them are like her clones, the remaining 2 are like their father.

The 8 have blonde hair & blue eyes, the other 2 black hair and brown eyes.  Nan's hair does look dark on the photo but she was blonde when she was young, then it got darker as she got older.

Thank you Su :-[ :-[ Apparently the blue eyes are from the Challinor line, Nan's Dad, Charles Pryce Challinor.  I'm told he was known for his brilliant blue eyes.

I've attached a photo of Nan's Mum - dark hair and eyes!
