how can i find inmates bridgend asylum 1861 1871
-
Search the Ed's description until you get to institutions usually.
also search back from 1881 residents/officials by name & age.

Hi
Bridgend was in Newcastle and Coity. In 1871 there is a separate District (Newcastle Bridgend) that is just the asylum.
The Union Workhouse is in Coity District 4 in 1861 and 1871.

Hi again :)
Just to clarify, if you use A***try:
* go to the appropriate census year
* scroll down until you find the list of counties
* select Glamorgan
* select Newcastle/Newcastle Bridgend or Coity
* click on the appropriate enumeration district (the ones that I mention above)
* then browse through the pages
